White House Adds Chemical Sector To Partnership Plan

In an effort to expand on its promise to strengthen cybersecurity for critical infrastructure, the White House added a fourth sector Wednesday to its Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Cybersecurity Initiative, the chemical sector.

The majority of chemical companies are privately owned, so that means the federal government feels it needs a collaborative approach between the private sector and the government. The nation’s chemical companies and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) agreed on a plan to promote a higher standard of cybersecurity across the sector, including capabilities that enable visibility and threat detection for industrial control systems.
