I’ve been in security for nearly 20 years now, and my fascination for our industry is no less than when I started. The tech industry moves fast, and security moves even faster. This rapid pace and the innovation that drives it is a big part of what makes security exciting.
In my time as a security guy, I’ve had a chance to work with a number of technologies as they evolved from totally new to well deployed in the market: vulnerability management, anti-spam, IDS/IPS, NGFW, Advanced Malware Protection, SOAR, SIEM, UEBA and more. It’s a long list, and while I’ve absolutely enjoyed the chance to help build fast-growing businesses around these technologies, there’s a dark side to it as well.
We’re overrun with security products. You only need to visit an event like RSA to see nearly a thousand vendors pitching their technology as the way to protect against the latest threat. The statistics quantify the extent of the same problem. SOC teams routinely have products from 40 different vendors (or more) and struggle to use them, pivoting from screen to screen all day.
Will the seemingly endless flow of new security technologies end? I don’t think it will, but shouldn’t there be a way to make all of it work better together? That’s why I joined Polarity.
(Also joining me at Polarity are my colleagues from Phantom / Splunk, Dan Ramaswami and Rick Rutledge.)
Polarity does two things: it allows you to see your data even clearer by providing contextual information on the fly, but it also allows you to take those insights into every other platform or tool you use. It does this with augmented reality, but in software, on your desktop. It uses computer vision to recognize what is on an analyst’s screen and then overlays relevant contextual information in real-time. All data tells a story. Polarity helps you to see it better.
The “story” Polarity helps you to see comes from many sources including the products you already use. With more than 100 integrations, Polarity works well with the tools you have in place to make them work better together by giving you the context to understand why you may need to act and what action to take. Check out these simple examples of how Polarity works with Splunk, Flashpoint, and Google Translate, just to name a few.
Don’t take my word for it. See for yourself with a demo or trial.
-Morey
CP Morey is the CMO of Polarity. Prior to Polarity, Morey was the Area Vice President of Security Marketing at Splunk, responsible for supporting the company’s explosive growth across the entire security portfolio representing more than 50% of Splunk’s annual revenue. Morey joined Splunk through the acquisition of Phantom where he was VP of Products & Marketing. Morey joined Phantom pre-revenue / pre-GA and built the marketing & product management teams, helped to establish a new market category, and then positioned the company as the thought leader and marketing juggernaut in the industry. Phantom was named the most innovative company at RSA Conference 2016, and earned multiple industry accolades before being acquired by Splunk in 2018.
Morey also served as Senior Director of Product Marketing for Cisco’s industry-leading security portfolio – a role he assumed after the acquisition of Sourcefire. Morey was Vice President of Product Marketing at Sourcefire where he helped with its transformation into a multiproduct company with the launch of FireAMP, a product with exponential revenue growth since its release in 2012, that now thrives as Cisco’s Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) business.
A veteran of the security industry since 2001, Morey has also held leadership positions in product marketing and product management at ISS and PentaSafe while helping to scale the companies for successful acquisitions by IBM and NetIQ, respectively. Morey is a CPA and earned his MBA from Thunderbird, the #1 ranked school for International Business.
